A delightful converter!
Desiring to convert old analog home movies to separate digital files according to subject, I found this gem.
Analog tapes were first converted to digital DVD .VOB files by hooking an old Hi8mm camera to a Sony DVD/VCR dubber.
The resulting DVD was finalized and put into an External DVD drive attached to the laptop.
After trying nearly 20 programs AVCWare Video Converter Ultimate was stumbled upon.
This did EXACTLY what I'd hoped to do in breaking the total DVD down into separate, nameable clips & converted the clip into a more modern precise MP4 H.264 AVCHD (1920x 1080 24pP format that took up less than half the disk space than the .VOB files while delivering great audio, nearly comparable video and being easily playable on Smartphone, Facebook, Youtube, and quickly viewable and downloadable when web-hosted.
The more I used this program, the more I came to admire the power and elegance of its deceptively intuitive graphical interface. I'm no longer looking for a "better" program to clip, merge, segment, and convert old home movies digitally. I really can't imagine a program working better or faster.
I, of course, tried the free version, but in searching the Internet, I was able to get an 80% off deal.
This version (V.7.7.3) has yet to freeze or fail to do more than what is expected quickly and reliably.
Take a good look at this converter. It does A great deal very well. It's of the value-added type you hope to encounter when you try a computer program.
